About Us
Last year was another record year for entries into the Galtres Run.

A massive 602 people entered the 2009 event on a warm, humid, but thankfully cloudy day.

Max and Christine Goodwin were presented with a framed Certificate of Thanks for all their hard work. Max chaired the Galtres Run Committee for 9 years and Christine works behind the scenes, helping input the entry forms onto the database and taking the photos on race day. Without their commitment and energy we would not have been able to raise the large sums we have done for the Scouts and latterly the Guides over the years.

This year, David Bream is our new chairman, supported by Helen Sykes (Sponsorship), Lynn Wagstaff (Treasurer), Pru Johnson (Entry Forms), and Helen Vernon-Rees (Publicity). It takes over 60 people to support the Galtres Run, from the marshals who keep the races safe, to the team who organise the late entries in the Scout Hut, not forgetting the people who give out the refreshments and the medals to all the finishers. All play a really important part in this special community event and we owe you all a big thank you.

Also thanks go to our main sponsors, Burn & Co Solicitors. Because of their generosity, the Committee could be confident that a profit would be made.

Finally it would be remiss if we did not mention how much support we receive from the Easingwold Lions. They organise the road closure for the Band Competition from which we also benefit, along with a complimentary advert in their programme, they make our announcements, they give us the floor whilst we present our trophies and help us in so many other ways. Our grateful thanks to the Easingwold Lions.
